Round Report D1NZ Hampton R4

Hampton Downs is the one track in New Zealand that I have mixed feelings about. I’m not entirely sure that I like it, nor do I hate it. The only way I can describe it is “frustrating”. For a drift section, it’s pretty basic: 4^th gear handbrake entry down a straight, into an uphill right with a quick switch back left over the crest, section ends. The tricky thing is, that because of this simplistic section, and that everyone in D1NZ has driven this track numerous times, it puts us all on a very even playing field come battle time. Read below for my high’s and low’s of this event and track.

Pre-season testing at Hampton Downs 28/7/12

Last weekend I went down to Hampton Downs racetrack for the DMNZ track day. We had just got the car back from Eastern Automotive, with it’s monster tune and couldn’t wait to see what it felt like on track.

Tristan put together this video of some GoPro footage, came out really well I think!

CRC Speedshow 2012

July 21st & 22nd saw over 20,000 people through the gates at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland. With the CRC Speedshow being the place to see all different forms of race cars (old & new), motorcycles, new production cars, and live demonstrations, it is easy to see why this is one of the most popular automotive events of the year.

Taupo open day June 23, 2012

If you’ve been following my blog or facebook page over the past couple months, you have probably realized that I have been really excited about getting my RX7 running again. With all the rushing to get the car ready in time for it’s first outing, I sort of forgot about the excitement until I was actually at Taupo and ready to go out on the track!
